Nouadhibou: End of Consultation Meetings on Fisheries Sector
Nouakchott, 25/02/2021 Consultations and exchanges of views on the fisheries and maritime economy sector ended Thursday in Nouadhibou.The meetings were organized as part of the periodic reviews that the department organizes on the latest changes in the sector and the constraints that hamper its development.
Closing the meetings, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Economy, Ms. El Alia Mint Menkouss, said that they had made it possible to study and analyze important topics such as the sustainable exploitation of the fisheries of Mauritania's exclusive economic zone, fishing industries, the need to ensure the quality of fishery products, the value chain, the Mauritanization of crews, and approaches to modernize artisanal and coastal fisheries.
She thanked the participants for adopting dialogue and discussions as a working method and for emphasizing the scientific aspect and the general interest.
Ms. Mint Menkouss, finally, affirmed that the recommendations and suggestions resulting from the meetings will serve as references for the decisions that the department will make for the implementation of its strategic vision.
