Closure of G5 Sahel Heads of States Summit

The Chadian President, His Excellency Mr. Idriss Déby Itno, president of the G5 Sahel group, announced the closure of the works of the seventh ordinary session of the G5 Sahel heads of states summit, which started earlier on Monday in N’Djamena.

During the final session of the summit, His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, passed the baton to the Chadian president, His Excellency Idriss Déby Itno. The Chadian president commended the efforts deployed by His Excellency President of the Republic during his tenure which have significantly boosted the advance of the programs and the success of policies, particularly those related to good governance, strengthening women’s role, and cementing confidence with the group’s partners.

In his speech, the Chadian president said that this summit yielded greater solidarity and mutual trust among the leaders of the G5 Sahel countries and its populations.

He added that, under his presidency, the group will pursue the Implementation of the Pau road map.

He stressed on the importance of the cancellation of the countries’ debt and the need to move forward with the implementation of its priority investment program to materialize the group’s approach that encompasses security and development.
