G5 Sahel Heads of States Summit Launches in N’Djamena
N’Djamena, 15/02/2021
This meeting occurs to follow up on the decisions of the Pau summit, which was held between the G5 Sahel countries and France in January 2020. It also a continuation of the ordinary summits, which started in Nouakchott on February 16, 2020.
The opening session of the summit was marked by a speech, in which His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh Al-Ghazwani, announced the handover of the group's rotating presidency to His Excellency President Idriss Deby Itno, expressing his delight in the selection of N'Djamena to host this event and thanking the Republic of Chad for its successful organization and warm hospitality.
The president of the republic added that he is confident that the wisdom and leadership of the president Deby will enable the group to overcome challenges and achieve the targeted aims.
In his speech, His Excellency reviewed the achievements accomplished during his presidency of the group.
