Minister of Oil: "The meeting on Energy and Mining Strategies Culminates Many Strategic Studies"
Nouakchott, 24/05/2022 On 24 May, Mr. Abdessalam Ould Mohamed Saleh, the Minister of Oil, Mines, and Energy said that the symposium on energy and mining strategies culminates numerous strategic studies carried out over several months. The aim was to develop a vision for the mining sector capable of ensuring Mauritania an advanced position in this domain.During a news conference in Nouakchott on the sidelines of the meeting organized around energy strategies, he added that this study had begun after many preliminary actions, including the adoption of a vision of the energy sector, and action plans for its implementation, initial investments, and a special roadmap.
The Minister recalled that the objective of this symposium is to engage with the various partners in exchanges around themes relating to the promotion of the sector, adding that all opportunities are present to move Mauritania to an advanced position.
For his part, Mr. Gordon Birell, the BP Upstream Chief Operating Officer, said that Mauritania offers a favorable investment climate, which promotes fruitful cooperation between the Government and companies. He recalled that Mauritania is among the most important countries in which his company is investing.
In turn, Mr. Andrew G. Inglis, the Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Kosmos Energy, appreciated the support provided by the Mauritanian state, adding that the companies find it a good treatment.
