First batch of 6th Mauritanian Battalion for Peacekeeping in Central African Republic Leaves Nouakchott

The first batch of the 6th Mauritanian peacekeeping battalion left NouakchottTuesday for the city of Banki, capital of the Central African Republic.

This battalion, under the command of Colonel Seyed Ahmed Ould Mheimed, will take over the tasks from the 5th Mauritanian battalion, whose mission has ended and has been in this brotherly African country for a year.

The National Army has been involved in UN peacekeeping operations in the Central African Republic since 2014. The performance of successive Mauritanian battalions has always been praised by UN officials and the host country.

The farewell ceremony for the members of the battalion was attended by Rear Admiral Ahmed Benaouf, Commander of the Third Office of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, accompanied by some aides.
