On 21 November, the Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy, Mr. Dy Ould Zein, held talks, in Abu Dhabi, with Mr. Mohamed Rashid Al Rumaithi, chairman of the board of directors of the Al Fattan Holding Investment, specialized in manufacturing ships of multiple sizes.

During the meeting, Mr. Dy Ould zein reviewed investment opportunities in the fisheries sector and the maritime economy. He noted that shipbuilding and repair is a promising sector, given that more than four thousand fishing boats operate in Mauritanian waters.

The Minister of Fisheries announced that three main ports are operating under the authority of his ministry and can accommodate such activities, namely the ports of N’Diago, in the south; Tanit, in the center; and Nouadhibou, in the north.

He also cited promising areas for investment, such as the manufacture of boats and their accessories and other ancillary offshore activities.

Finally, he added that investing in the packaging and processing of sardines and tuna constitutes a beneficial and coveted field of activity.
