President of Republic Kicks off National Consultation Sessions on Reforming Educational System

The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani, supervised, Tuesday at the Conference Palace in Nouakchott, the launch of the national consultation sessions on reforming the educational system.

These consultative sessions aim to take a close look at the educational system to diagnose its imbalances in an effort to have an efficient system that responds to labor market needs and produces a highly-competent workforce to establish comprehensive sustainable development.

These sessions also seek to develop a road map that would make national educational institutions able to keep pace with social and economic contexts that require careful planning and good preparation to update the necessary educational curricula to achieve the expected goals in accordance with the fourth goal of sustainable development, which aims to provide quality and equitable education for all before the year 2030.

The Ministry of National Education and Reform of the Education System, the organizer of these sessions, invited governors, invited heads of regional councils, representatives of civil society, trade unions, and various actors in the field of education.

The kick-off of the national consultation sessions on the reform of the educational system took place in the presence of:

-The Prime Minister، Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal,

-The Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr. Cheikh Ould Bayeh,

-The President of the Constitutional Council، Mr. Diallo Mamadou Bathia,

-The leader of the Democratic Opposition، Mr. Ibrahim Ould Bekaye,

- The Minister Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic,

-The Minister Counselor at the Presidency of the Republic,

-Members of the government,

- The Wali of Western Nouakchott,

-The Mayor of the municipality of Trefagh Zina,

-The governor of Trefagh Zina,

- The representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations accredited to Mauritania.
