Minister of Fisheries Receives Head of EU Delegation

Mr. Dy Ould Zein, the Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy, received Tuesday in Nouakchott, Ambassador Mr. Gwilym Jones, the Head of Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Mauritania.

The meeting focused on the fishing agreement protocol between Mauritania and the EU, signed after lengthy negotiations between the two parties.

The Minister asked European investors to invest in Mauritania in fishing infrastructure, creating employment opportunities for added value from fishery products. Mr. Dy Ould Zein pointed out that the business climate in our country is attractive.

For his part, the European diplomat indicated that he would spare no effort to attract European investors to finance projects in Mauritania to create jobs and preserve the country's fishery resources.

He added that during these various meetings, he noted the importance of fishing for our country. He stressed that artisanal fishing would benefit from the Project to Promote Fishing in Mauritania.
