Togolese President Arrives in Nouakchott

Togolese President Faure Gnassingbe arrived in Nouakchott, on Wednesday afternoon, at the start of a two-day friendship and working visit to Mauritania.

Upon his arrival at Nouakchott Oumtounsy International Airport, the Togolese President was greeted by His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, surrounded by the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal.

The Speaker of the National Assembly, MP Cheikh Ould Baya; the President of the Constitutional Council, Mr. Diallo Mamadou Bathia; the Leader of the Democratic Opposition, Mr. Brahim Ould Bekaye; the Minister Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic; the Director of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic; the chiefs of staff of the armed and security forces, the chief of staff of the President of the Republic; the wali of Nouakchott-Ouest and the Chairperson of the regional council of the capital were also present.

After listening to the Togolese and Mauritanian national anthems and reviewing the military formations that came to pay the honors, the Togolese President greeted members of the government, senior officials of the country, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations accredited to Mauritania, and representatives of the Togolese community living in our country.

In turn, the President of the Republic greeted the delegation accompanying the Togolese President.

The President of the Republic and the distinguished Togolese guest then had a one-to-one meeting in the VIP lounge of the Nouakchott international airport before the Togolese president left the airport for his place of residence.

The Togolese President is accompanied on this visit by a large delegation which includes, in particular, Mr. Antoine Lekpa Gbegbeni, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Rural Development, Ms. Mazamesso Assih, the Minister responsible for financial inclusion and the organization of the informal sector; Kokou Tengue, the Minister of Maritime Economy, Fisheries, and Coastal Protection, and Mawunyo Mila Aziable, the Minister Delegate to the President of the Republic in charge of Energy and Mines.
