Minister of Equipment Attends Opening Ceremony of Forum Istanbul

The Minister of Equipment and Transport, Mr. Mohamedou Ahmedou Mhaïmid attended, Wednesday in Istanbul, the opening ceremony of the 12th international forum on transport and communications.

The minister who also participated in a ministerial round table on logistics, mobility, and digital, addressed in the speech he delivered, the measures taken by the Mauritanian Government to face the challenges imposed by COVID-19 in all economic sectors, particularly that of transport.

He said that to ensure the economic take-off of the country and mitigate the effects of the pandemic, the government has developed and implemented the President's expanded priority program to which 10% of GDP has been allocated.

Mr. Mohamedou Ahmedou M'haïmid assured that as part of the execution of this program, two interchanges are being built in Nouakchott in addition to the extension of the urban road network of the capital to allow better traffic flow.
He pointed out that the tender dossier for the construction of a 150 km highway is under preparation.

The minister said that in terms of maritime transport, work is underway to complete the container dock and oil products, highlighting, in the digital field, the creation of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, Innovation, and Administration Modernization.
