Mauritania, Abu Dhabi Fund for Development Sign Grant Agreement

Mr. Ousmane Mamoudou Kane, Minister of Economic Affairs and Promotion of Productive Sectors, signed, Tuesday in Abu Dhabi, with the Director General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, a grant agreement worth $6.5 million.

The grant is destined to finance a project to develop facilities and services, enhance the safety of navigation, and raise the efficiency of services in the Tanit Fishing Port.

The project includes the establishment of a unit to produce ice blocks (40 tons per day), cold stores, quick-freezing units, a workshop for repairing and maintaining boats, supplying a crane, marine buoys, and safety equipment, establishing water depots and administrative offices, in addition to electrical and mechanical works.

On the sidelines of the signing, which was attended by our Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed Ahmed Salem Mohamed Rare, the Minister held talks with ADFD Director General, accompanied by several assistants.

They discussed ways to speed up the implementation of projects financed by ADFD in our country, as well as the possibility of launching new projects. In this context, the ADFD’s officials expressed their interest in contributing and accompanying the project to supply the city of Kiffa with drinking water from the Senegal River through Gouraye and Selibabi.
