Steering Committee of Peacebuilding Fund in Mauritania Launches Works

The steering committee of the peacebuilding fund in Mauritania has started its works Monday in Nouakchott at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Promotion of Productive Sectors.

This meeting aims to manage conflicts and enhance pastoral and agricultural resilience in the border areas between Mali and Mauritania. It also follows up on the existing projects and the extent of their success and discusses the steps that have been taken in this regard.

In a speech on this occasion, the Director General of development policies and strategies at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Promotion of Productive Sectors, Mr. Abass Sylla, thanked the attendees and wished them a happy stay in Mauritania.

He declared the official joint launch of this project between Mauritania and Mali, appreciating the presence of some Malian government members and the United Nations agencies working in Mali.

He added that this project is one of the joint roadmap projects between the two countries and is coordinated by Mauritania, noting that it extends over a period of 24 months, with a budget of 3 million US dollars, and targets the following regions: Guidi Makha and the two Hodhs (Mauritania) and Kayes, Nioro, Yelimane, Nara (Mali).
