Mauritania Receives 302,400 Doses of Johnson & Johnson’s Vaccine Provided by U.S.A

The Minister of Health, Mr. Sidi Ould Zahaf, supervised Sunday at Nouakchott’s international airport ‘’ Oumtounsy ’’ the reception of 302,400 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine, provided by the United States of America within the framework of the International Alliance for Access to Vaccination against Covid-19.

The batch comes to support the national efforts to contain COVID-19 and mitigate its repercussions. It was preceded by two batches of AstraZeneca vaccines, consisted of 31,200 and 74,400 doses respectively.

In a speech on the occasion, the Minister expressed his gratitude to the United States of America for this donation, indicating that it is an occasion to express thanks on behalf of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani And the government of the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Bilal Messoud, to the American government and people for giving significant quantities of vaccine for the benefit of African countries.

In her turn, the Chargé affairs at the US Embassy, Ms. Inger Tangborn, explained that the delivery of this donation of Johnson & Johnson vaccine to Mauritania was made through the COVAX initiative and in coordination with the African Union and the Global Vaccine Alliance.

She added that she bears a message from the American people that they will stand with the Mauritanian people in all adversities, whenever need be.
