Prime Minister’s Office: “What has been achieved would not have been accomplished without the firm will of the President of the Republic and his confidence in the government”

Nouakchott,  07/05/2021
At the end of the first part of the series of working and inspection visits started by the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal more than a month ago in the Ministerial departments, a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office on Friday affirmed that what has been achieved during the term of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, would not have been achieved without the firm and sincere will of His Excellency, the confidence he places in the government, and the daily monitoring of its action, especially during all the Cabinet’s meetings.

The statement added that the government is a united work team whose action is complementary. It always needs evaluation and revision to improve its performance and overcome the obstacles it faces notwithstanding the rumors and escalation.

Here is the full text of the statement:

“His Excellency the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal Messoud, completed today the first part of the series of working and information visits that he began more than a month ago in the ministerial departments.

The purpose of these visits was to transmit to all the components and articulations of the administrative apparatus of the State the instructions and directives of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, on the need to energize the administration; to inquire about the state of progress of the implementation of his program, and to know closely the shortcomings and the obstacles which hamper the acceleration of the pace of execution of the main programs and projects.

During these visits, the Prime Minister was able to measure the extent of the efforts made by all the departments at all levels, particularly to:

-Alleviate the suffering of vulnerable classes;
-Facilitate access to basic services such as health, education, water, electricity, etc.
-Bring services closer to citizens;
-Preserve the security of citizens and their property;
-Promote productive sectors;
- Fight against youth unemployment;
-Develop basic infrastructure;

It is no secret, of course, that the context in which these achievements were made was marked by significant difficulties and major constraints that accompanied government action from the first day of this presidential term. So, the government has found a heavy legacy before it at all levels.

For example, the administration, which is the tool of all development, has been the object of a systematic destruction which has paralyzed it and disrupted its capacities for constructive action and sound management.

The difficult national and international situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has cast a shadow over the pace of implementation of the various programs and plans developed; The truth is that what has been accomplished today would not have been accomplished without the firm and sincere will of His Excellency the President of the Republic, the confidence he places in the government, and the daily monitoring of its action, particularly during all the Cabinet’s meetings.

The government is a united work team whose action is complementary. It always needs evaluation and revision to improve its performance and overcome the obstacles it faces notwithstanding the rumors and escalation. This is the right approach that His Excellency the President of the Republic has constantly pursued to stimulate government action through his wise directives aimed at accelerating the pace of work to meet the aspirations of our dear citizens for a decent life and sustainable global development.

As a result, confidence is now being strengthened with the visits of the Prime Minister that the shortcomings recorded in the pace of the implementation of government programs will, with Allah’s help, be overcome and quickly corrected, in order to achieve the ambitious goals set”.
